Nagarkot Day Hike starts from this scenic viewpoint hill which is above 2,110 m high famous and popular spot for striking sunrise and sunset views over a panorama of Himalayan peaks that covers Manaslu-Ganesh in the west with Langtang, Jugal Himal towards north central includes Gaurishankar and peaks of Everest range towards the far eastern horizon.

A peaceful area with a small town with many excellent hotels-resorts and lodges offering grand views of the sunrise over Himalayan peaks from the balcony and terraces of the hotels, a great place to escape hustle, bustle busy city life of Kathmandu for a day or two.

Nagarkot Day Hike leads you into rural farm villages and enchanting woodland to reach at an ancient Changunarayan temple and its medieval era villages then heading back to your hotel in Kathmandu with a short drive with options tour of nice and lovely Bhaktapur city.

Enjoying sunrise views over Himalayan peaks, after breakfast our guide leads you for a pleasant and scenic walk within cultural villages and towns on route day hike, starting by 8 - 9 a.m. depart from the hotel, as hike begins on downhill route taking hidden path away from motor roads walking past many farm villages and agriculture fields and terraces. As walk leads past a Shiva temple areas near Telkot, and then with short climb into forested areas of tall rhododendron-oaks-magnolia and blue pine trees, after a short uphill on gradual walk into woodland to reach at ancient Changunarayan Temple and its medieval period small farm town.
On reaching at temple premises visit this impressive old holy sites which is countrys oldest temple dates back to Lichava period early as 325 A.D. Located on a high hilltop also called Changu or Dolagiri. Surrounded with forest of champak tree includes small Changu village located north of Bhaktapur.
Changunarayan Temple dedicated to Hindu god Lord Vishnu, regarded as oldest one in Nepal. The pagoda style temple has several masterpieces of 5th to 12th century of excellent Nepalese art.
During King Licchavi King Hari Datta Verma regime it is one of Nepal's richest structures historically as well as artistically. In the grounds there is a stone pillar inscription of great importance recording the military exploits of King Man Deva who reigned from 496 A.D. to 524 A.D. The first epigraphic evidence of Nepalese history found in the temple premises during the reign of the Licchavi King Mandeva dating back to 464 A.D.
After an interesting time around Changunarayan head back to Kathmandu after a wonderful an interesting scenic and cultural Nagarkot day hike.
