Ruby Valley Trek, starts with an exciting drive heading North-West from Kathmandu city and the valley. Reaching the hill villages of Nuwakott past the busy town of Trisuli Bazaar, where the adventure begins towards further north-west.
Following through rural farm villages, crop fields, and terraces, then entering a dense forest. Lined with tall rhododendron, oaks, and magnolia, pine trees include lush vegetation, coming across a few grazing pastures. An enjoyable overnight in tented camps amidst forest surroundings, a pure wilderness adventure.

After days of lovely walks in a serene forest, the trail reaches Sing-La at the top highest point of the trek. Facing breathtaking views of the Snow-Mountains of Central and Western Himalayas, along with dramatic landscapes of rolling green hills and valleys.
The walk heads down to scenic Ruby Valley, the name Ruby where precious stones existed in abundance in the early days.
The trail follows towards farm areas and villages, on leaving the beautiful Ruby Valley, walking ups and downhill.

Finally ending the marvelous walks reaching large settlements and villages and the interesting town of Dhading Besi. From this hill town, an exciting drive brings you back to Kathmandu, after a memorable adventure on Ruby Valley Trekking.

Morning tour and Explore UNESCO heritage sites: Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bouddhanath, and Pashupatinath after breakfast. Experience the grandeur of palaces and temples built during the Malla era. Rest of the day relax and preparation for the Ruby Valley Trekking, next early morning.

Morning drive on scenic road, the route leads north beyond Kathmandu valley towards Kakani scenic hills, views of snow peaks. As drive follows to Trisuli Bazaar the headquarters town of Nuwakott. After a brief stop for possible lunch, the drive continues west through farm areas reaching at remote village Bhalche. Also called as Thuli Gaon for overnight halt, overnight in a simple local lodge, or Setting a tented camp on the farm yard.

Starting the first day walk heading north with views of Ganesh Himal and Manaslu range. As trail leads to climb into forest, past Gumbu and Phikuri Danda ridges walking across an isolated farm villages. The walk then ends on reaching a small area at Rupchet, amidst beautiful rhododendron-oaks and pine forest. Overnight in tented camp set on a grassy fields on a nice meadow, amidst forest surroundings

From the camp at Rupchet facing close view of Ganesh Himal, morning starts with downhill, and into thick vegetation with tall trees. The walk heads west past few cattle herder shelters, within dense forest. The day trek finally ends reaching a wide clear grassy field for overnight camp, at the base of high Sing-La Pass.

A rest day, around this beautiful place as well to explore the isolated area, where few groups of trekkers seldom venture. A short hike within the pristine location on the unexplored hidden pockets of Ganesh Himal and Sing-La areas.

The highest and steepest climb of the adventure, the uphill for few hours reaching on top the highest point. Enjoy the breathtaking panorama of Central and Western Himalaya range of peaks, starting from Annapurna in the far west. The view extends with Lamjung, Manaslu and Ganesh Himal at close distance with Langtang and Jugal Himal range towards east. From the top descent to the base of Sing-La for overnight camp on entering Ruby Valley.

After tough climb of previous day, walk from Ruby valley onwards is pleasant facing scenic mountain views. Enjoy the morning walking through dense forest and past open fields, offers panorama of Central Himal. Slowly the trail leads to first farm villages Shertung and Chalis-Gaon, after a short climb starts and downhill to Shertung. A small farm settlement and continue downhill to Chalis Gaon, mainly populated by Tamang the high hill tribes. The Tamang people follows Buddhist religion as their ancient cult of Bon and Shamanism, a nice place for overnight camp.

Start the morning with short climb to Tikka Danda a high ridge offers grand panorama of Ganesh and Manaslu Himal. Enjoying the glorious morning views descend to a nice area at Tatopani a place with natural hot natural spring. Time permitting to enjoy a refreshing warm bathe, and then continue walk to Nebar, a nice small isolated farm village for overnight halt.

From Nebar, enjoy the pleasant morning walk within tranquil surrounding, route leads further south. In between encountering steep climb to Timal-Danda, which leads to Kapur, a small farm village. Offers grand views of surrounding landscapes and snow peaks, as walk heads to Lapchet, then reaching Lapa-Gaon for overnight stop.

The morning trek follows heading right in the heart of beautiful Ruby valley. As trail follows past Kachet and Kichet a small farm villages. Adventure continues through lovely woods with views of Manaslu and Ganesh Himal. Then finally ending the day on reaching Ri-Gaon for overnight stop.

Enjoy the lovely surrounding, morning walk from here leads to Dhading district around low warm farm area. As walk continues altitude drops where route leads to several smaller farm villages of Kutawa-Arukhet-Bandhan-Cheelang then at Gumdi. From this nice village a short climb to Dhangarchol facing views of Ganesh and Manaslu range and then downhill to Phul-Kharka for overnight camp.

Today’s walk lead further south around warmer farms areas of mid-hills back to paddy fields. Walking across farm villages of Dansing Su-Bhanjyang, then reaching a large village of Hatiyakot. The trail leads along the farm areas to Chisapani and downhill to Ankhu Khola (stream). A short climb to Jyamrung Danda, a high cooler ridge, and then downhill to overnight camp at Chap Bhanjyang.

From the nice farm village of Chap Bhanjyang, last day adventure of final trek heading towards sub-tropical country. The walk follows past farm villages of Gola and Murli Bhanjyang area. Then finally reaching Dhading Besi, a large town and a headquarters of Dhading area. On completing the trek, enjoy the overnight in the comfort of a nice local hotels or lodge.

Morning after breakfast an exciting drive to Kathmandu, where journey follows through farm villages and towns to reach on the main Kathmandu and Pokhara Highway. On crossing a bridge to other side of Trisuli River at Maluku village, as drive continues on winding uphill to Kathmandu valley and the city. On arrival in the heart of Kathmandu, transfer to your hotels with rest of the day free to relax or for leisure activities.

FAQs

Nearly all seasons of the year, except for wet monsoon times of July and August and the middle of winter January and February.
The best and most favorable time is in spring from March to May, when most days are sunny. This is the time when wildflowers are in seasonal bloom, especially the rhododendron of various colors and species. Morning and night time as well in shade will be much colder, the day time is warm for pleasant walk and views.
Could rain in the late afternoon with snowfall sometimes during this best season of the year.

Not much to spend on this Ruby Valley Trekking, as this walk leads beyond villages and the main settlements. Where all foods are provided in the camp from breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The only money to spend is on the last day when you can party with fellow members. Including staff, guides, and porters, where you can buy hard drinks and chilled beer at Dhading Besi town.

Saving some cash in Nepali Rupees for gratitude and tipping the trekking staff, guide, and porters. Can carry approx. NRS 5000 to 8,000 per person for tipping and spending on soft or hard drinks.

Around Nuwakot and Dhading districts, where Ruby Valley is located. The lower warm farm areas were populated by mixed tribes of people Tamang, Magar with Chettries, and Brahmins. Of both Hindu religions and cultures, coming across few temples and Buddhist monuments.

Upper hill villages are mainly inhabited by the Tamang indigenous ancient tribes of the Mid-East and Central Himalayas. The Tamang practice Buddhism and the ancient cult Bon, a pre-Buddhist sect.

Ruby Valley trekking leads you away from the facilities of hydroelectricity of solar power. On leaving the last village, within the pure wilderness of dense forest and mountainous region, far from villages and towns.

Best to carry a portable solar panel, and sling it on the top of the backpack to catch solar power during the day. Then charge your electronic items and cell phones on the camp by evening time. The facilities of electricity are available on the last day at Dhading Besi in the hotel where you stay for an overnight halt. Before driving back to Kathmandu.
