Kathmandu day tour leads you from the morning after breakfast around 9 a.m. where our city guides will accompany you or the groups either in the car or coach as per group size, where a short drive or walk leads you amid the city at Durbar Square, full of local activities where you will be in the hub of old Durbar Square (palace courtyard) with magnificent monuments of temples and palaces.

Kathmandu is a delightful place although a semi-modern city, but still retains its old-time glorious with most old heritage sites and impressive cultures that lead you on our day tour around Kathmandu where you will be well informed of the places of interest by our expert guides.

Kathmandu day tour includes colorful and ancient Durbar Square, old Syambhunath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, and Boudhanath Stupa from morning till late afternoon where the tour completes by 4-5 p.m. with a lunch break within the sightseeing tour either in Thamel or at Bouddhanath.

Kathmandu Day Trip Itinerary:

9 a.m. departure from the hotel with a short drive or walk in the center of Kathmandu's main area at old Durbar Square steeped with old palaces from Malla to the late Shah Monarchy period of the 6th to 19th Century.

Kathmandu Durbar Square:

Kathmandu Durbar Square, which includes the residence of the Living Goddess (Kumari Ghar), ferocious Kal Bhairab, the red monkey god, and hundreds of erotic carvings are a few examples of the area. An old historical building of the Malla periwhich who ruled Nepal till the 17th century separate kingdoms with old palaces within the city of Kathmandu valley Patan / Lalitpur and Bhaktapur. The Valley was divided into three kingdoms during the Yaksha Malla period Kathmandu / Patan and Bhaktapur city. Kathmandu Square teems with colorful life and vendors with handicrafts around Kastamandap Temple. This Temple was built with the wood of a single tree and is the source from which the Kathmandu Valley got its name.

All woodcarvings, statues, and architecture in this area are exceptionally fine, and Kathmandu Durbar Square is among the most important sights for travelers to see. The complex also houses the Tribhuvan Museum which carries the mementos of different Shah Kings. Interesting places to visit are Akash Bhairab Temple /Hanuman Dhoka / Temple of Kumari / Kastha Mandap where Kathmandu's name derives from an old temple built from the wood of a single tree.

11 a.m to 12 p.m: Swayambhunath Stupa-Monkey Temple

After an exciting time at Kathmandu Durbar Square a short drive towards the west of the city to reach at old Swayambhunath Chaitya or Stupa, located on hillock covered with green small forest with many monkeys, hence the name Monkey Temple.
Believed to be more than 2,600 years old, one of the most ancient Buddhist monuments of Nepal, as well a famous landmark of the country listed a World Heritage for Site, stands as the nerve center of faithful worship for all the devout philosophy of Bajrayana in particular and honors Lord Adi Buddha.
This old stupa forms an outstanding structure composed of a solid hemisphere of terracotta bricks and soil supporting a cornice of copper and gilt, with four-sided all-seeing eyes of Lord Buddha, keeping an eternal observation on the Valley distinguishing between vice and virtue. The whole hill filled with small Chaitya and pagoda temples possessing great five Mahayana (Lamaism) and one Hinayana (Theravadas). Includes another important Buddhist shrine; it is called Manjushree and God of Wisdom and Knowledge.

12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m: Lunch break at Bouddhanath or on route

Afternoon travel northeast of the city to reach at famous Buddhist Stupa of Bouddhanath also called ‘Little Tibet’ with a great number local people living around of Tibetan origin with similar culture and traditional life.
Where leads walk inside Bouddhanath Stupa premises facing largest Buddhist shrine of South Asia, this ancient colossal or a chhorten built in 6th century A.D. by King Man Deb, with three terraces series, looking from bird's eye view with a relevant shape of a lotus flower regarded as very holy object for all the Buddhists devout.
The Stupa surrounded by a circular market with similar shops and items like of Tibet, where you can witness four pairs of Buddha's eyes that gives vivid flash to the four cardinal directions, which keeps a diligent watch over people and commitments.

02 p.m. to 3 p.m: Visit Pashupatinath Temple

After a lovely and interesting time at Bouddhanath, a short drive leads to holiest of all holy Hindu Temple of Pashupatinath regarded as one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites for Hindu followers, where people visit for prayer and worship from all over Nepal and India.

Located on the bank of holy Baghmati River where you can witness cremation sites also, Pashupatinath Temple the very center of pilgrimage on Shiva’s birth anniversary which falls around the month of February the event known a Great Shiva-Ratri.
Inside the main entrance where only Hindus are permitted to enter, where non-Hindu and foreign tourists can view the temple from east side of the Baghmati River.

3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m: Drive back to Hotel.
