Everest Base Camp Trek Package 12 Days

The 12-day trek to Everest Base Camp is a full-service program for those who want to see the Khumbu Region. There is no need to do your own logistics planning. Instead of having to buy flight tickets, trekking permits, accommodation, guides and meals separately as you would do on your own visit to an area, a package offers all these services bundled under one itinerary. So it makes things easier and more convenient from beginning to end.

A typical package contains the following services for your trip: Return Flights and Trekking Permits to/from Lukla; Teahouse Accommodation; Daily Meals During The Trek; Assistance from a Licensed Guide and Porter.

A well-established route is generally used by the package, comprising an itinerary that has been created for the purpose of providing a safe means for a trekker to adapt to changes in altitude over time. Hence, the inclusion of acclimatization days in locations such as Namche Bazaar and Dingboche, as well as continued movement toward the base camp of Mount Everest. Beyond the logistics associated with the trekking package, the concept represents a guide; assistance in ensuring your own safety and the use of local knowledge, thus allowing you more leisure time to benefit from the mountain surroundings.

In summary, the 12-day Everest Base Camp Trek Package consists of an accurately scheduled tour of the Himalayas (i.e., transportation, lodging, permits), along with assistance during the trip itself, allowing the participant to concentrate solely on the adventure.

Everest Base Camp Trek Package (Standard)

The standard trekking package offered on the Everest Base Camp (EBC) trek is the most widely accepted option for trekkers wanting to experience EBC. It is an established package that provides the best combination of comfort, safety, and value. This trip usually lasts 12 to 14 days, includes round-trip flights from Kathmandu to Lukla, permits, teahouse lodging, meals on the trek, and a guide and porter throughout the trek.

Most of these trips are designed to have acclimatization days so that trekkers can safely acclimatize to the elevation of the area, as well as covering most logistics, nearly all trekkers should be able to concentrate on the hiking portion of their vacation only. These types of packages are most suitable for first-time trekkers or those who would like a guide helping them on their trek without needing to add luxury accommodation and services.

Budget Everest Base Camp Trekking Package

For trekkers interested in a budget option for their EBC trek with limited funding, there are budget guide packages for the EBC trek that are designed to provide the best price to the trekkers. Although these packages generally include basic teahouse room accommodations with shared bathroom facilities, they're still offered with a guided approach.

That includes the necessary permits and flights required to travel to EBC. But there are fewer comforts than the standard trekking option. And accommodation is shared between members of the same group. The budget Everest Base Camp trek package is one of the least expensive ways for a trekker to go to EBC with the benefit of an organized guide rather than having to work out a self-organized trekking plan.

Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek Package

The Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek Package takes adventure to a whole new level with higher-end accommodation, better meals, private guides, increased safety, and sometimes helicopter options for return trips or scenic flights. Such trips are aimed at travelers who want comfort along with adventure; therefore, they tend to minimize the physical effort required for the trip while increasing the scenic value of the experience.

On days that are going to be especially difficult, those added comforts will be especially meaningful.

Helicopter or Special Itinerary Package

There are guided EBC packages that give you a helicopter return option (if you’d like), or you can combine the standard trek with a scenic add-on experience such as the Gokyo Lakes or the Three Passes trek system. These hybrid-style trips still have the standard level of organization, including all the permits, guide service, and logistics, but give you some unique experiences when exploring the Everest area both by air and by providing views of the larger landscape that exists beyond the Base Camp trail. This is an adventure designed for your individual needs.

All the guided EBC trek packages have different comments about their expectations. There are specific budget level options available, as well as specifically comfort-oriented trekking options, and there are options that provide some special experiences; however, each package will ultimately provide you with the opportunity to trek into the heart of the Khumbu safely and professionally managed with proper planning.

FAQS

How to book the Everest Base Camp Trek 12 Days package?

To reserve a spot on an Everest Base Camp Trek 12 Day trip, you need to pick a licensed, local trekking company and enter your information into their online reservation system. You generally will have to put down a small deposit as well as provide a scanned copy of your passport to book your Lukla flight (i.e., flight to the trek starting point) and your trekking permits.

Is a guide included in the 12-day EBC trek package?

Yes, all of our 12-day trekking packages include a licensed English-speaking guide who will be by your side as they handle all logistics, manage your safety at altitude, and provide tremendous insight into the local Sherpa culture.

What are the benefits of having a guide with us?

A guide is essential for navigating the difficult terrain and monitoring your health for possible symptoms of altitude sickness. However, they also take care of all interactions between you and the teahouse owners to make sure that you have the best possible room and food options throughout the trek.

Can I book this trek as a solo traveler or a group?

You can book our 12-day treks as a solo hiker who wants to join a group or a party of private individuals looking for an exclusive trek. Booking together as a group can lower the overall cost per person, while booking alone allows flexibility with daily walking speeds.

Are porters usually included along with the guide?

Most of our 12-day packages include one porter for every two trekkers, who helps you carry your heavy duffel bag, allowing you to carry just a small day pack to help ensure that you will be comfortable at the base camp.

What documents do I need to provide for the booking process?

To complete the booking, you will be asked to provide a digital copy of your passport and two passport-sized photos for your trekking permits. Also, you will be asked to submit your travel insurance information, which must have coverage for emergency helicopter evacuation at altitudes up to 6000 meters.

Is the flight to Lukla included in the 12-day package?

The domestic flights from Kathmandu (or Manthali) round-trip are part of your 12-day itinerary. Your guide will check you in and assist in rescheduling your flight if needed due to weather.

How far in advance should I book my EBC trek?

We suggest that you book your trek at least 3 – 6 months before you want to leave, particularly if you are going to trek in peak seasons, spring or fall, because booking early will give you the best chances of getting a confirmed flight to Lukla as well as securing your place at the most popular tea houses.

Does the guide stay with us for the entire duration of the trek?

The guide will meet your group in Kathmandu for a pre-trek briefing, and they will be with your group from the time you arrive in Lukla through to when you depart. They will be available at all times of the day (including at night) to help in any medical emergency and to make sure that all necessary arrangements are made for the trek.

What is the cancellation policy after booking the trek?

Most agencies have a flexible cancellation policy, and you can get a partial refund or reschedule your trip to a later date. Read the terms and conditions about non-refundable flight deposits carefully before confirming your reservation.
